INDIA: Day 7.

When we arrived at Gingee, Mr. Petillot told us that it is the passage that separates the Deccan plateau from the coastal plains. After starting the hiking trail, monkeys appeared from nowhere and stole Matheo's banana and juice. The girls and more than a few boys freaked out but the teachers told us to put the food in our bags and relax (n’est-ce pas Maud?). Then we continued the hike. While we went up, the trail people stopped to take photos of the beautiful scenery. The views over the hills, the other forts and temples, the paddy fields and the palm trees were just stunning. Mr Petillot’s knowledge was very enlightening for us.

When we made it to the top, we ate lunch (nice sandwiches but we would have liked some more) quickly so the monkeys couldn’t. Stopping on the way back down and admiring the view was great. Some students freaked out again when they saw monkeys again but they actually turned out to be quite cute as long as you didn’t show them any food! We met a group of French people at the bottom of the path. The teachers and the group exchanged a few words while we were messing about. We got back on the bus some of us played cards, read or rested. We arrived safely at the guesthouse waiting for “la fête surprise”. Not really a surprise any longer though….
